This page is dedicated to the novice who is learning how to shop for a puppy. It can help you to
avoid puppies that are not bred for health and good breed characteristics and what questions to
ask when looking for a puppy for a specific purpose.

First question I ask usually ask people is,
#1.) "What are you looking for?"
Are you looking for a great family pet ? Or maybe a lovely breeding prospect or maybe show
prospect. Decide what you want before you shop and do your homework. If you can't afford the
quality you want like anything else in life good things come to those who wait and work hard, save
your money and then shop. No matter what you are looking for be sure you find a quality breeder.

When we go shopping in a store we see allot of beautiful things that we want but some we can
afford some we cannot afford, usually the better quality the more expensive it is. My Poms are just
that, quality and very beautiful and my litters are very well planned. My dogs are not cheap but they
are very beautiful, and like anything else in life you get what you pay for! I am not a breeders who
throws two dogs in the back yard and prays for puppies. My litters are planned well in advance
usually when I purchase the male and female I know who they will be bred to. I breed them with a
specific goal in mind. I don't always achieve my goals, but I do more often than not because I shop
very carefully for my puppies, and I am not afraid to spend the money to get what I want!
A.)Pet quality........ This means the dog is being sold as a pet ONLY! The price will usually be much
lower but this does not mean the puppy or dog cannot not be a great family pet. Most of my puppies
are sold as pets with a strict spay and neuter policy and if your dog is not altered by a certain age,
by a licenced veterinarian, I will reposes it, fix it for you at your expense and then and only then will
the dog be returned to you! Sorry that's my new policy due to the fact that many people have
purchased dogs from me and have bred them with out me knowing until it was too late! I am not in
this hobby to "feed" the pound or help you make a few bucks on the back of a dog! People who want
to breed for themselves or have a specific goal in mind are welcome!
B.) Breeding prospect...... Means the dog has been vet checked to be sound and have very good
qualities in accordance with the American Kennel Club a great temperament. My puppies will be
healthy and sound if they are being sold as breeding prospects. We do not sell too many of our
dogs as breeding prospects, we want to know our babies will be taken care of properly when being
place in a breeding home so be prepared to tell us allot about you, what kind of home you will
provide for one of my lovely babies and your goals in your breeding program.
C.) Show prospects are rarely sold because it is about 1 in 10,000 dogs that actually turn out sound
with the attributes to be a show dog. There are allot of breeders out there that will sell you a "show
prospect" in a heartbeat for astronomical amounts of money but the only sure way to know the dog
is going to be a show dog is to buy one that is already being shown and pointed, or take your
chances. I have wasted thousands on dogs that didn't turn out to be even breeding quality at the
least! This is not to say that there are not good reputable breeders with larger kennels with show
stock that you can actually get a show dog from but it is few and far between and it is all a gamble
with any dog and chances are if the dog is that good, they will keep it or
it's sold before it hits the public forum for sale! Do your homework!

HEALTH
I do my absolute best to find the healthiest and best representations of this breed from honest
reputable breeders or keep from my own quality stock to insure you get a healthy, happy, quality
puppy! I also use great products such as premium quality foods and vaccinations, treats,
supplements and grooming products, to raise my puppies. I believe good products can help with
longevity immune system and bone strength. Better products do make a better dog! We also have
our puppies vet checked for thyroid and patellas heart and trachea.

OUR BREEDING STANDARDS

We do not breed CKC, or APRI, designer dogs or any other kennel clubs because we believe AKC is
the elite of dog clubs and has the highest standards for their dogs and for members. We have
chosen one breed and one club to diligently work on our breed and we are sticking to our guns. We
are inspected about every other year and always pass with flying colors because we believe in
healthy, TYPE dogs, cleanliness and good record keeping.
With the exception of our big pet dogs, who are fixed, ALL of our breeding dogs are registered with
The American Kennel club and we breed our dogs with their standard in mind. AKC's standards are
for size and type and we also have a few standards of our own that we go by and they are as follows:

TEMPERAMENT
If they don't have a great temperament they don't get bred here!
No one wants spastic or shy dog or  a sketchy temperament for a pet, and you definitly do not want
these traits in a pet, and especially in a breeding prospect and definite not for a show dog.
Energetic is not to be confused with spastic. Poms can be very energetic and can make great agility
dogs and that requires allot of energy and focus. Shy dogs can be fear biters and nervous around
people and this is not a good characteristic to have in a dog no matter what breed you are looking
for.
We breed for an intelligent and sweet type dog.

SOUNDNESS

There are so many Poms out there with bad legs it's terrible. Luxating patellas, collapsing trachea's,
BSD and Thyroid issues are rampit in this lovely breed. These are unsoundnesses and undesirable
traits and we want to avoid them as much as possible. Collapsing trachea is totally avoidable and we
do not have it in our lines that we are aware of. BSD or black skin disease is for the most part
avoidable and will not be bred here in this kennel. Thyroid is totally avoidable and will not be bred in
this kennel! Our dogs are tested for thyroid issues and have their patellas tested once a year as of
2005! According to my vet, most Pomerania's will develop some degree of lunation in their lifetime. I
have yet to find a line that does not have it but we don't breed any greater than a grade one and are
actively seeking a kennel to purchase from, that will guarantee no patella lunation issues. We are so
tired of people selling and breeding these terrible traits into this lovely breed with no consideration
to the dog themselves. It needs to stop and as a conscientious, ethical breeder, the buck stops
here. Our puppies are vet checked for luxating pateallas before they are even offered for sale and
will be sound at the time of purchase or you will be told what degree of luxation they have. Not all
luxation leads to unsoundness and many with slight luxation live happy healthy pain free lives.
The difference between us and many others is we will tell you whats what! All of our moms and
daddies will also tested before we even think about breeding them so we have the best dogs to
offer you.

HONESTY

We are so sick of people telling lies to sell their puppies. If you have to lie you should not breed!
People need to be honest so that they can produce healthy dogs and match you and their puppy
with the people who want them. It has to be a good connection in order for the puppy and people
seeking the puppy to have a great life together. If they cared about the puppies and people
inquiring instead of the money, there would be less homeless dogs and more people matched with
a healthy, happy, well adjusted dog to spend enjoyable lives together. Dogs are our friends and part
of our families and we need to treat them as such! We do not lie about color or health to sell our
dogs. As you can see we don't have to! Dogs are our companions in life, not a commodity!
